CurioBuddy Child Safety Policy
CurioBuddy is designed as a child-friendly learning and magazine platform that encourages reading, creativity, curiosity, science, general knowledge, STEM thinking and activity-led learning. Since children may read, participate, contribute or appear in CurioBuddy-related content, child safety is an important part of our publishing and participation approach.
This Child Safety Policy explains how CurioBuddy aims to protect children while creating and sharing educational content, magazine features, activities, submissions, workshops, contests and learning resources.
Our Child-First Commitment
CurioBuddy believes that children should be able to explore ideas, ask questions, create and learn in a safe, respectful and age-appropriate environment. We aim to ensure that content and participation opportunities are suitable for young audiences and do not expose children to unnecessary risk.
Our approach is guided by three principles:
- Safety: Children’s wellbeing and privacy should come first.
- Consent: Parent or guardian involvement is important wherever children submit work or personal details.
- Respect: Children’s ideas, images, names and creative work should be handled responsibly.
Parent and Guardian Involvement
CurioBuddy encourages parent or guardian involvement when children participate in submissions, contests, workshops, editorial activities or community features.
Parents or guardians should review any child submission before it is sent to CurioBuddy. They should also ensure that the child understands what is being submitted and where it may be published.
Child Submissions and Contributions
Children may be invited to submit stories, poems, artwork, science ideas, questions, articles, puzzles or creative work for CurioBuddy, The KK Times or The Qurious Atom. Such submissions may be reviewed before publication.
CurioBuddy may edit, format or reject submissions if they are unsuitable, unsafe, unclear, offensive, overly personal, copied from another source or not aligned with the platform’s educational purpose.
Where child submissions are published, CurioBuddy may use limited identifying information, such as first name, age group, city or school, only where appropriate and consent-aware. Sensitive personal details should not be published.
Personal Information and Privacy
CurioBuddy aims to avoid collecting unnecessary personal information from children. Where information is required for participation, communication, subscription, contest entries or publication, it should be handled responsibly.
Children should not submit sensitive personal information such as full home address, personal phone number, private school details, financial information, passwords, identity documents or private family information through public forms or submissions.
Parents or guardians should supervise any submission involving a child’s name, image, school, city, contact details or creative work.
Use of Child Images, Names and Creative Work
CurioBuddy may feature child-created work, photos, achievements or participation stories where appropriate. Such use should be consent-aware and respectful.
CurioBuddy aims to avoid overexposing children’s personal identity. Where possible, limited identifiers may be preferred over full personal details.
If a parent or guardian wants a child’s image, name or contribution reviewed, corrected or removed, they may contact CurioBuddy through the website contact page.
Safe Learning Activities
CurioBuddy may publish learning activities, science ideas, creative tasks, puzzles, experiments, worksheets and challenges. These are intended for educational and creative engagement.
Any activity involving tools, craft materials, online research, kitchen items, outdoor observation, science demonstrations or technology should be performed with suitable adult supervision. CurioBuddy avoids recommending unsafe experiments, hazardous materials or risky challenges for children.
Online Safety
CurioBuddy aims to provide a meaningful and child-friendly digital learning environment. Children should use online features, forms, downloads, videos or community-related activities under appropriate parent or guardian guidance.
CurioBuddy does not encourage children to share private contact information publicly or communicate with unknown individuals through the platform.
Moderation and Review
CurioBuddy may review submissions, comments, creative work, workshop material, magazine content and other child-facing content before publication or use. Content may be rejected or removed if it is unsafe, inappropriate, copied, discriminatory, harmful, overly personal or unrelated to the platform’s purpose.
Workshops, Contests and Community Participation
CurioBuddy may organise or support workshops, contests, editorial participation, creative activities or learning events for children. Participation terms may vary by activity and may require parent or guardian permission.
Parents should carefully review the details of any workshop, contest or activity before allowing a child to participate.
Reporting a Child Safety Concern
If you are a parent, guardian, educator or user and you notice any child-safety concern, privacy concern, unsuitable content or unauthorised use of a child’s details, please contact CurioBuddy for review.
Policy Updates
CurioBuddy may update this Child Safety Policy from time to time to improve clarity, safety, compliance, user experience or publishing practices.
